Live Afghan radio

10 stations streaming live from Afghanistan and from Afghan broadcasters abroad — the state network, independent news services, a women-run educational station, and the international Dari and Pashto services — plus Sandar Mix, a continuous shuffle of the catalogue.

Every station plays free, in the browser, with no app to install. Streams come straight from each broadcaster, so you hear exactly what is going out on air.

Sandar Mix

A continuous shuffle of everything in the Sandar catalogue — nearly two hundred Afghan artists, from the Radio Afghanistan era to today, played back to back with no station breaks.

RTA Taranum FM

The music channel of Radio Television Afghanistan, the country's state broadcaster. Taranum carries Afghan music through the day rather than news and talk, drawing on RTA's own long-running archive of Dari and Pashto recordings.

RTA Milli Radio

RTA's national radio service — Radio Television Afghanistan is the state broadcaster, and Milli is its general-interest channel of news, talk and cultural programming, broadcast nationally from Kabul.

Radio Azadi

Radio Azadi is the Afghan service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, broadcasting news and current affairs in Dari and Pashto. It is one of the longest-running international news services aimed at Afghan listeners.

Begum FM

Radio Begum launched on International Women's Day, 8 March 2021, founded by Hamida Aman and staffed entirely by women. Its schedule centres on educational programming for girls, broadcast under the restrictions the station operates within — it does not carry news or pop music. A sister project, Begum Academy, provides recorded lessons covering grades 7 to 12.

Radio Salam Watandar

Salam Watandar began in 2005 as an Internews project supplying national programming to local Afghan stations, and became an independent Afghan organisation in 2012. It produces news and current affairs in Kabul and distributes them to a network of affiliate stations across the provinces.

Radio Afghanistan International

Afghanistan International broadcasts news and current affairs in Dari and Pashto for Afghan audiences at home and in the diaspora, produced largely from outside the country.

BBC Pashto

The Pashto-language service of the BBC World Service, carrying international and regional news, analysis and discussion for Pashto speakers in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

VOA Ashna (Dari)

Ashna is the Afghan service of Voice of America. This is its Dari-language stream of news, interviews and current affairs.

VOA Ashna (Pashto)

Ashna is the Afghan service of Voice of America. This is its Pashto-language stream of news, interviews and current affairs.

Why Arman FM is not here

Arman FM on 98.1 was the dominant Afghan commercial music station before 2021, and it is the one listeners ask for most often. It cannot be offered, because it no longer exists as a station: Moby Media suspended Arman's own programming after August 2021 and the frequency now relays Ariana News audio. There is no independent Arman FM stream to carry. Any site claiming to stream it is either relaying Ariana News or playing a recording.
