Valy
Valy — Valy Hedjasi — is a Persian-language singer, songwriter and producer born on 29 May 1986 in Mashhad, Iran, to a family from Herat. He grew up in Germany, in Heidelberg, which makes him a product of three places at once, and his music reflects it: Afghan in its roots, Iranian in its production, European in its arrangement. He records through Avang Music, the Iranian label that distributes much of the Persian-language pop market, and that connection is what took his songs well beyond an Afghan audience. His albums on the label include After Love (2007), Crazy in Love (2011) and Live in America (2014). "Bia Tu" and "Delamo Shekoondi" are among his early hits. He is one of the few artists in this catalogue whose work sits as comfortably in Iranian pop as in Afghan music, and the dance-oriented sound he is known for is unlike almost anything else here. Much of what circulates about him online comes from celebrity-biography sites of doubtful reliability, so this page sticks to what can be corroborated.
