Ghezaal Enayat
Ghezaal Enayat was born in Kabul on 7 December 1980, to a father from Laghman and a mother from Kandahar — a background that shows in her work, since she sings in both Pashto and Dari and moves between pop and Afghan folk forms. She began singing in Afghanistan around 2009 and moved to Canada in 2011, where her professional career properly started. Her breakthrough was "Dil-e-Beqarar", a duet with Nazir Khara from the album Ashti; Khara is also in this catalogue. "Wayrana Manzil", "Jigarom Jigarom", "Dak Dak", "Ma Ba Qurban Tu" and "Dobara Baran Meshowad" are among her other well-known recordings. She won Best New Female Singer at the Aryana Television Awards in 2012 and Best Song of the Year in 2013 for "Ashiqi", a trio recording, and was named Best Artist of the Year by BBC Persian in 2017. In 2017 she represented Afghanistan at the Global Village festival, performing to a crowd of more than twenty-one thousand, and she has given concerts in Canada, the United States, Australia, Tajikistan and across Europe.
